About

Hi! I’m Christy and I’m your guide here at Online Sound Advice.

What is Online Sound Advice?

Well, there are a lot of smart and savvy folks out on the internet building successful businesses. Many of them include content distribution in their business model. Part of the content stream can or does include audio. Too often there is marked room for improvement in the quality of the audio content.

Online Sound Advice meets you where you are, teaches you what you need to know about sound, space, and equipment to radically improve your recording capabilities and content generation, which in turn improve your perceived professional expertise, your clients’ experience, and your bottom line.

Who am I?

Yup, this is me.

Yup, this is me.

I started working with live sound mixing in middle school. As it turns out, I had a knack for hearing better than most (which doesn’t make a lot of sense unless you’re an audio engineer, sorry). So I ended up doing monitor and house mixes for various bands and festivals. I also learned studio work and did some of that. I have also worked as an on-air radio DJ and a radio news reporter. I’ve been the house sound geek for theatres (including some sound design) and presentation spaces. I also was the sound recordist for one of the worst indy films ever made.

Although I learned to edit audio recordings with a razor blade, I’ve since learned how to do it with a mouse. I’ve also worked to educate myself on some of the better distribution methods going. I keep up with new developments in microphones, Analog/Digitial conversion, and other geeky gear stuff.

In other words, I know a thing or two about sound; recording it, editing it, and (most importantly and most often overlooked) setting everything up correctly in advance so that the rest of the process goes well.

Best of all, I have a good sense of how to make this as painless as possible for you. Really.

I work hard to find out about your specific situation and where you want to take things. Then we work together to find solutions (environment, body, and maybe equipment) to make things better. I can also help you sort out a good content flow for your products. If you don’t already know it, spoken word content is best shaped differently than printed word content.

So there’s the start of it all. I’m here, happy to help in whatever ways I can. Feel free to check out the Services and Products page for information on specific stuff, or just drop me a line: Christy (at) OnlineSoundAdvice (dot) com, making the obvious replacements as I do battle with the evil spambots.
