Once you believe you’ve set up the perfect recording situation, it’s time to give yourself a listen.
Record no more than 3 minutes of your project (and no less than 1 minute). Then play it back for yourself – preferably listening with high-quality headphones.
Listen for the furnace, the dog, traffic, your own heavy breathing. Listen for anything that would distract a listener from the message you’re recording.
Fix the issues, then test again. Do not record the real content until you have solved the issues. Get outside help if needed, too.
Spend the time up front to make things right, and you will save time (and money) in the long run.
